Hi there,students. Today we are going to look at the phrasal verb 'to settle up'. To settle up for something with somebody. O, to settle, we can use to mean to pay a bill, to settle a bill. But we use settle up meaning the same idea to pay what you owe. Maybe different people who put different amount of money into a common fund and it needs to be distributed in the right way, you settle up. Do you think you can lend me 10 pounds and I will settle up at the end of week, I will pay you at the end of the week. Ok, so you've done several jobs for me, but I can't pay you yet. Could we settle up in a couple of weeks, could I pay you, could we work out exactly what I owe you, how much I owe. Yeah, it's time to go home and leave the restaurant. I'd better settle up for our meal with the waiter, ok, to settle up. Yeah, to settle up, to pay a debt, to pay a debt (of you??).
